Hey guys, I've got a weird question and I feel like this is the right place to ask. I've got an old Schwinn as my beater winter bike (not a varsity, but it's been re-painted so I can't tell what model it is. Serial number put it around '71) I've got a 26" wheel up front but that made the front brake un-useable. It's fixed gear w/ a back brake right now so it's perfectly rideable, but I'd like to get a front brake back on it. My question is, any way I could get a rim brake working on it? I have considered a drum brake or some kind of hub brake but I wonder if rim brakes (even modified) are possible. Here's a picture:

(upside down for some reason? but at least it shows the clearance)
Closest thing I've found are these fork mounted brakes (designed for track bikes though, which makes me wonder how wide of a tire will fit under there)

Any ideas?

Its common for people that modify Raleigh Twenties, to make drop bolts for them. Thats a metal plate or tube, bolted or maybe inserted into the fork crown.

Heres Sheldon Brown on about it, with a photo of a rear brake.

That tire is huge, you'll need a big bmx caliper to clear it. along with the aforementiond drop bolt modification. But why bother? forks are cheap; get a mtb fork with canti studs on it; they'll clear the tire a lot better anyway.
