Bicycle Mechanics - Shimano HB-756 Front Hub Cone Wrench Size

Servicing a Shimano HB-M756 front hub. I have a set of 13/15/17mm Park Tools SCW cone wrenchs. Two out of the three fit the cone and jam nut (don't remember which.) However, the wrench is too thick to fit the cone nut when reassembling the hub. That makes no sense to me. Any suggestions on a cone wrench that will fit? (I have googled and read every possible post...)

Some Shimano hubs have the cone and it's wrench flats below flush with the dust seals on one side. So, if you remove that locknut, the flats stick up enough to unthread the cone but not far enough to take the cone wrench when the locknut is tightened down. You may have to disassemble the other end of the axle, replace and tighten the cone and locknut on the first side and then readjust and tighten from the other end.

This the same situations on Both Sides? I find disc hubs require adjusting from the non brake side..

That might be it. Unfortunately I disassembled both sides before realizing I really only needed to do one side. Will investigate again this weekend. Thanks for the comments.

tighten one side , then put the axle in..

Yup, will do, thanks!(I think I got tunnel vision 'cos I didn't have this problem on the rear hub.)

This resolved the problem. The dust seals were interfering with the cone nut. Just had to force the dust seals to seat further down.
