Hybrid Bicycles - Got my new bike today a Fuji Absolute 1.4 looking to ride more soon

I originally ordered a diamondback insight but the store send wrong size and then offered this bike. I pretty sure i got a better deal with the fuji just was little concerned about the smaller 28c where the db has 32c if i want to do light trail rides.




What does every1 think about my deal and concern with tire size . I know can change so may just do that

Nothing wrong with the DB but I like the Fuji and its spec's better. Enjoy!

if you want good strong wheels that will last many years, plan on spending about $250 for the wheelset w/ cassette. the hybrid wheels in the $50-60 each range tend to be junk, OK when new, but won't last more than a couple years, or stand up to much abuse.

Handspun Wheels "Pavement Series 5" are an excellent choice for this sort of application.

I have an Insight 1. I've never had any major probs with it, and I've got almost 3200 miles on there right now.
The Fuji looks nice, and a lot of people suggest they have better components, although I'd hazard a guess they're not too far apart for someone that's not going to be a competetive rider.
I'd be quite happy with the Fuji 1.4 if someone offered it to me as an alternative to my Insight, though.

As for the tires size, I'd agree with njsteve's comment +1. If you're planing on taking it offroad in any real sense, you're going to need wider tires. 28c's really aren't going to get you anywhere much in anything soft, except maybe onto the ground. ;)

I picked mine up Monday. 70 miles on it so far. I ride on paved bike paths, so the 28c tire is just about perfect. My old bike had 23c tires which were nice and fast, but just a bit too narrow for the occaisional bad pavement. I don't want the extra mass of fatter tires.

i think the bike is a great choice!

good quality high thread count tires aren't much heavier in moderate sizes like 700x32 or 35. I rather like the Vittoria Hyper Randonneur's, these are a folding tire, with reflective sidewalls. catch-22, they are rather pricey.
