I was thinking of hacking up a vintage Raleigh 3 speed to connect to a suspension pivot on my tank trike. If I cut off the top tube and cut the down tube about 6 inches in front of the Bottom Bracket I could split, spread and drill the stub to fix around the pivot point. I might connect it via the existing pivot point bracket if need be but I don't own a welder and was hoping to manage this without hiring help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Pictures please. No way around it, this is a welding job. Why are you using a Raleigh three speed?

I think that with the low ground clearance on this beast i want to go with a internally geared wheel and I have the Raleigh in the parts heap. I also want to replace the rear end with something that will take a larger wheel.
