I am looking at doing a self guided tour of the Czech Republic to Vianna in the early summer of 2013. I really don't wnat to pay for a tour so would like to ride freelance. How or where can one locate potential like minded biking partners or a trip such as this?

LOATE?

I just went, on my own , 3 long European tours.. solo.. met people along the way..
they were my companions .

IDK how about a note on the Evergreen College bulletin board? like minded ?
you got a long list of Philosophical questions ready to go?

Old fashioned Print? there is both the ACA listings , and the Bicycle Paper published out of Seattle.

Put in ads @ Advernturecycling.org in "Companions Wanted" and crazyguyonabike.com in "Classifieds"

I agree with Yumadons. Adventure Cycling and CrazyGuy are the way to go.

Dear Bob:

I like to tour cheaply and self guided is the only way to go. Perhaps if you put a personal ad on Craigslist you might find a like-minded touring partner. However when I have been to Europe it was easy to just join other cyclists. I met lots of interesting people at hostels and tourist sites. Just remember that if you have an unpleasant touring partner they can make your vacation more of a chore than fun. The only advantage I can see in touring with other people is that you can share the cooking utensils. So if I can't get a partner I just plan on eating out and meeting interesting locals.
