I like the Bianchi Volpe (test rode the '01 model.) My question: anyone here actually use this bike for touring and can provide some feedback?

From what I have read the Volpe makes an excellent touring bike. Go to sheldonbrown.com and read what sheldon has to say about the Volpe. I came very close to buying one about a year ago. I think it was a 2000 model, just my size, in a dark green that no one seemed to want. My LBS was making an offer I could hardly refuse. Unfortunately someone else snapped it up in about a week. Too bad. In another week I think I could have had my wife talked into it. Her argument was that I had just bought a new bike a few months earlier. Yeah, like THAT has anything with NEEDING another one. :D

Thanks for the input. Just curious, what was the LBS offer on the 2000? I'm trying to figure out what kind of bargaining power I'll have for the 2001.
