How do you know the Thonet is not fuctional as a bike? Looks like it would work....I'd like to have one for my indoor velodrome.....Oh...well if I had and velodrome....I think I'd like to have the Thonet too; just for fun :rolleyes:

We have a local guy here that builds bikes out of wood, the one below was one of his first models but it seems now he has gotten more creative with his designs and uses exotic woods and polymers to build them.

Amazing pics, thanks for posting. I've seen bikes made from bamboo (great resource, as anyone who has seen the use of bamboo for scaffolding in HK and the Far East will tell you!). I notice from the posted pics that the basic design of the chain hasn't changed much!
