I just ordered my Motobecane Fantom CXX today in yellow, 50cm from BikesDirect. I was first going to get the Windsor Tourist, then I looked at Nashbar, and for some reason I kept looking at the steel cross bikes on BD. Nashbar's steel cross bikes had a carbon fork and I did not want a carbon fork. I decided the Motobecane Fantom CXX would be the best choice as this bike is not going to be a dedicated touring bike. It will also used for commuting and fun rides. I will use it for touring but I like pulling a trailer more than loading my bike, even though I do load my bike lightly. Besides, I like to go fast from time to time. I wanted an everything bike ultimately so I think this is a good choice. Now I wait.....

I finally received my CXX and the rear dropout was bent. I emailed BD so let's see how they handle the issue.293782293783293784

I had to send the whole bike back. As soon as it is on it's way BD said they would send me a whole new bike. Here's to another week of waiting........

I hope the next one is better! It is a hassle for sure....

Bummer that the bike was not quite right. Glad BD seems to be trying to make it right.

When I got my CXX last year it had a bent fork. The dropouts were spaced 2cm too narrow for the hub. BD was quick to pull a fork off another CXX and ship it to me.
