I know that this topic has been raised before... But does anyone know of any source for 406 (BMX size) forks with longggggg steerer tubes? I know that these are used sometimes for other folding bikes. If not, anyone know of a frame builder who could put one together for under 150ish?

If you're talking about a R20 replacement, surely the junkyard is the first place to look.
Try contacting Sheldon Brown at firstname.lastname@example.org He's knows a lot about modified Raleigh Twenty's.
Another place to try is http://www.gaerlan.com/bikeparts/bike.html because they deal with a lot of recumbents
If you have a local framebuilder, it doesn't hurt to ask them.

Yeah, rigid would be my top choice. The suspension just looks a little chintzy on a 20 I think.

You could always cut the head tube down to use a shorter fork, and then use an exender. I've got a R20 frame here that I was thinking of fixing up that way.

best advice I'd give is look at recumbent parts as they usually need long steerers. I actually have a spare original r20 fork off the one I've been converting (mine has a 20" chili works susp. fork now) and I'd be happy to sell (shipping from uk) though I'm guessing you want something a bit more substantial...

For about $60 (IIRC), you can have your LBS order you a replacement fork for a Sun EZ-Sport recumbent from a few years back. J&B Importers part #67453 methinks, maybe 27664... Have them talk to a rep to make SURE that the steerer is 1" threaded, rather than oversized (as the EZ-Sport is currently using). J&B's database description can be misleading: for example, if it says "25.4" that might refer to the steerer diameter (good) or the stem quill diameter (oversized=bad). It'd probably be coming from the Miami warehouse and that could make it take a bit longer and cost a bit more.
The one I got is black with cantilever posts and plenty of clearance for a 1.75", I think enough for a 2.0" slick with a fender. It has a steerer long enough for my Twenty and I'd imagine that your Twenty's headtube couldn't be that much taller. The crown race is 27.0. The dropouts are recessed (lawyer-lip effect) with eyelets. (I believe that the recessed dropouts won't work with my axle nuts and washer without filing, although they'd probably be fine with a QR.) My impression so far: not fancy, but excellent functionality.

I just bought a non-folding R20 for my wife, it has 451 wheels!
