Can anyone recommend a bench mounted repair stand? The ones from park Tools are (yikes!) about $165, over 3X what I want to spend. There are others on the market in my price range, but I have no experience with them.

This stand http://www.amazon.com/Sunlite-Bracket-Bicycle-Display-Stand/dp/B000C17HJ4 is very inexpensive and works surprisingly well for quick repairs or adjustments when I don't feel like dragging out my floor stand. It holds the rear wheel off of the workbench so derailleur adjustments, etc. are easy.

Yes, but derailleur adjustments and chain lubing are all it is good for. It isn't strong or stable enough to do any other type of repairs.
i have the park wall mount stand with the new style clamp, and its really REALLY sturdy, I love it. yeah, was $140 or whatever. I have the base piece bolted to a pole outdoors where i work on my bike, and the clamp plus retainer thing pop out for storage in my tool shed when I'm not using it.
