Only two weeks into the Re-Gain fitness regime and 4 spinning classes and 3 Cardio sessions and a few bike rides later I think I am adjusting. Spinning is not my favourite but started to get back into them this morning. Varied session and whatever the instructor stated as gear (Effort) level- I went one above and the same with cadence. 10 above what she suggested. Did not find that hard so may go above again next session.

But what this spinning is doing is getting the mind back. Most of my rides are solo and if it hurts going uphill- I find a lower gear. Legs start aching or lungs get to busting on a fast bit and I slow down. This morning I found myself pushing harder when things started hurting. The hurt bit will only last for 10 minutes and I am probably 8 minutes into that section BUT I am able to find a bit in reserve to push for that 10 minutes. Only time I did not follow the instructor was on an out of the saddle bit when I started to feel a bit of a niggle in the knees. Sat down for that one bit and took the gear down a bit and increased cadence to take the strain off a bit.

So the plan has started to work EXCEPT----

When I started the regime I weighed in at 151lbs. I have gone down a trouser size to a 32" so I know I have lost some bulk but weight this morning was 153lbs. I know I probably have muscle replacing fat and I would expect some weight gain to come as Muscle is put on but not this quick. And it is not through eating too much either. The wife has gone on a diet and apparently so have I.

So it looks like I have some extra work to do to get that weight down a bit. Not too bad to find the time to get down the gym right now with the weather being wet and cold- but they promise less rain next week and the temp up in the 50's. Just hope the garden doesn't get a stronger pull than the bike or the gym. Or at least it gets delayed till I lose another 7 or so Lbs.

A year ago I worked out aggressively with a personal trainer, with a goal getting fitter and losing a few pounds. The scales held glued to the spot, but I visited a friend I had not seen for year, who commented on how good I looked and said I must have lost weight.

Nope. I just moved it around a little.

Moving weight around is good.

Of course, I stopped the workouts, and the weight just moved back to where it had been before. :(

I won't say anything about an overweight guy wearing size 32 pants. Nope. I won't. Not me.
