Hello, I bought recently a road bike form Lapierre
(road racer 630), and had lots of problems with
the bike...During my first ride, the
rear wheel finished in an awfull condition;
something wrong with the spokes !

My bike seller try to fixed that, but just after,
it happened that the wheel became terribly warped
again...and I had a number of other problems:
all the bolts that hold the bottles on the frame
broke ! The saddle stem didn't hold (had to fix
the saddle position every 15 mins...). I also
found that the brakes paddles became mis-aligned.

I am really disapointed with the bike. I wonder if one of
you had similar problems with Lapierre bikes. It seems to
me that since there are so many flaws, Lapierre must
have a quality problem.

Cheers,

Christophe.

If this is a new bike, it should be coverd by warrentee, and i would talk to the shop that sold it to you about trading it in for a new one, or getting your money back. I dont know anything lapierre bikes, but I always have my new bikes tuned up after about 50 miles.

I took it back to the shop twice already without getting
any significant results, except some cheap and quick fix
(for instance, super glue !).
The shop keeper refused to give me back my money, or make
an exchange for a new bike. He doesn't want to discuss
that topic. I thought it would be better to send an e-mail
to Lapierre directly, and ask them to fix that mess. Some
people told me Lapierre bikes were pretty good.
May be the bike seller is dishonest. It's amusing, because
I have another road bike in a different place (in Paris)
which I bought in a supermarket. This is a cheap bike
(by road standards), but very pleasant to ride, never had
any problem with it !

__ Sorry for my bad English !

Your English is better than mine, and I was born and educated in the U.S. :D

it probably has nothing to do with the quality of the bike, just adjustment issues.
is the shop competent? have you tried another shop?

Lapierre is Ok. Sounds like an assembly issue- seat tube, bottle cages, wheels are often added in the shop. The shop is also responsible for checking the spoke tension (to prevent the wheel problem). You have full right to complain. A call to Lapierre might also help. If any of the parts got permanent damage, ask for replacement.

Those 11-year-old bikes are antiques by now...

Take it back and tell them to call you when it's fixed properly. If he refuses. Whip his ass. What is the name and location of this dive?

Sounds a lot more likely that the shop has a problem than the bike (particularly since they refused to refund you).
