Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

My friend who works at a local bike shop offered this bike (http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/globe/work/work1stepthrough) for $250 + tax (new). It's new so I feel it's better than a used Cannondale Quick 5 (http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/bik/3536442778.html)that needs a cassette and chain replacement.

What do you think?

That's a nice price for a nice bike, IMO, if it fits you well. The only thing that I wouldn't care for is the shifter (mainly because my wrist has arthritis in it).

Depends on a) the fit and b) your perceived use for the bike. If all you intend to do is errand running, short commutes, casual rides, and general in town use, it's fine.

On the plus side, the Globe would need no parts replacement and would come with a factory warranty.
