I am about to buy my first bike. I will be riding mostly road but with some off-road, mostly flat paths.
I've been searching for a while and have decided on the Diamondback Trace.
The 2013 model has disk brakes and is $450 (http://www.amazon.com/Diamondback-Trace-Wheels-18-Inch-Medium/dp/B008O2G99C/ref=sr_1_2?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1358652183&sr=1-2&keywords=diamondback+2013+trace).
The 2012 model does not have disk brakes and can be had for $370 (http://www.rei.com/product/850784/diamondback-trace-hybrid-bike-2012-closeout,-dark-silver?preferredSku=8507840002&cm_mmc=cse_froogle-_-pla-_-product-_-8507840002&mr:referralID=9b69aa14-62b1-11e2-8751-001b2166c2c0) on clearance.
Is it worth it to get the disk brakes or should I go for the older model without them and save $80?
p.s. I am 6'2" and 190 lbs. An online calculator told me that I should get the 22" frame. Does that sound good?
EDIT: I could also just spend $320 on a Diamondback Response (http://www.rei.com/product/833019/diamondback-response-trail-mountain-bike-special-buy) and use all the money I'm saving to get some road tires. Would that be worthwhile?
