I really hope he is able to be that size come july.

Some cycle mag quoted Godefroot or someone saying that Jan had pledged (not like contract pledge or anything, just a personal goal) to get his weight under control.

I'm guessing we will see a nice Ullrich / Basso matchup this year

I like Lance, I'm from the United States... but, it is starting to be like the Yankees in the World Series. It's getting old (and last years TDF was so anti-climatic).

I wouldn't mind seeing Lance win again, I just want it to be close, fun to watch.

That's some of the worst photoshopping I've ever seen. :)

I like ol' Jan, too, and from everything I've read he's a real class act. I like Lance, but I do get sick of hearing about just him, and having to scrounge to find out about anyone else I like. Shoot, it'll take somebody at least 7 years to eclipse LA's legacy,(if that's even possible,) so gimme an article about Mayo once in a while! Somewhere, there's another dimension where Bob Roll is the biggest cyclist of all time.

Which will happen first? Jan wins the Tour or his cold sore heals?

That picture with Zabel made me realize just how little Jan actually is.

I dont get it, was that skinny jan, actually zabel, with a jan face? becuase i was puzzled at how skinny jan looked in that pic

And I wouldnt mid lance winning, because i was at the tip of my seat almost every dayu in Aug. Becuase that was the first ever tour that i have ever watched. It was basically what made me into a cyclist and love road cycling and everything about it!

Judging by the date on the photo, 30-07-2001, that picture was taken shortly after the conclusion of the 2001 TdF. Riders, especially the GC contenders, get that lean look after the Tour.

Jan will always be "a beast of a man" though. :D

Know, oh prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamt of, ... Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a theif, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet."
-The Nemedian Chronicles

.......been a long time since I read those lines.....Almost makes me feel young again.......I used to have all the Robert E. Howard Conan stuff in my early teens......I really enjoyed reading & rereading them....

Until Arnold butchered the character in the movies...

......oops, gotta go, baby's crying

You're right about that, it was right after the Tour. However, I don't think he gets past 165lbs in the offseason, if that. He will always be a little guy.

True, Devil. He actually is a scrapper at 165 lbs.

Anyone who wears Adidas is cool in my book! He should go back to Bianchi.

I agree. I want to see "blood" this year's TDF.

The other day, I was watching Jeopardy. One of the question was "What Jan Ullrich does for living(or similar). Nobody even pushed the button.
As everybody here knows the answer is......."Soccer player!!"
