I'm trying to put bullhorn bars on my fixed gear bike, but they bend too sharply to fit through the quill stem. So I'm looking for a front loading road stem for a 1" threaded fork. Does anybody have one to recommend? Or should I go with one of those threadless adapters?

I found this thing at Nashbar, http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?sku=12673&SRCCODE=1067, but I can't tell what the attachment mechanism for the front plate is, and I'm wondering if it's one of the flimsy fold-open ones.

Profile use to make a decent open face 1" quill for not alot of $$.

I recently put this stem on my S&S coupled bike for ease of packing. it is a fold open style stem, but not at all flimsy. I haven't ridden it much yet, but it has been great thus far.

Unless you need to take your bars off frequently, I think you'd be better off checking the forums for advice on fitting bars into stems. there are more than a few threads on the topic.

Profile makes some pretty nice threaded stems w/ a removable face plate. I have a CODA on my bike, but its a rebadged Profile.
