BMX - Need major help

I've never ridden bmx, but I'm looking to get a small little bmx bike for tooling around town. Problem is, all the ones I see for sale are covered in garish colors and decals and such. How can I get my hands on a plain chrome bmx with no bells and whistles, no pipes extending from the axles, nothing?

Go to a bike shop...?

The first problem you have is that almost no bike is chrome anymore. The chroming process is bad for the environment and most reputable manufacturers steer clear of chrome plating anymore.

Second, if you don't like stickers, then take them off. If you buy a Ford truck, you know it's going to say 'FORD' on it, but you just pop off the Ford decal and you are good to go.

If you see a bike you like with pegs, then JUST TAKE THEM OFF - they aren't welded onto the bike, they just bolt on.

Why would someone buy a bmx bike just to ride around town on though? I mean, bmx bikes are purpose driven bikes. They are designed to be raced or to be taken out for freestyle use. They really are not ideal at all for just crusing around on the way a geared bike is. There are geared bikes with 20" wheels that are much better for getting from point A to point B with must less stress and strain on the rider.

That is definetly true, BMX bikes arn't made for travel. Now if you were going to practice tricks on the way to point A from point B then I could see! ;)

hahah bells and whistles and PIPES lol. just get a $120 mongoose or something. or spray paint it chrome or silver.

there are only a couple of good frames that are still available in chrome. such as the s&m black bike. but if you want a chrome bike, just get a mongoose form x-mart. especially if your only going to ride around town, and not do anything.
