Some people like to use brakes when they manual but others don't. Just lean back with your arms straight, and bend your knees forward if you fall back to far and straighten them (and lean back farther)if you are going to far forward. kepp the front part of your foot on your pedal when you manual to. After a couple of months you'll understand how to bend your knees.

I think that all you need is practise. The others are right. All you have to find is your spot, or your perfect point of balance. I'm learning how to manual myself right now too so I'm working on it! The most I can manual is around 5-10 seconds down an alley. I usually see alot of pro riders bend their knees to keep their speed if they're slowing down or something. Other than that, Practice!!

practice practice practice.....thats what it takes....you have to find a sweet spot....(thats the poni where your most comfortable in your manual and when your in it you can hold the manual longer) i find that if you dont practice them you lose them.

bending your knees does not help you get speed. it helps you to balance and raise/lower your wheel
