I am looking for a good road suspension seatpost. A friend of mine has a 1-X suspension seatpost on his touring bike and I really liked it. I have done a websearch and cannot find where to buy one. Does anyone have any idea where i could get one for my touring rig.
Sorry, I don't know where to get that particular seat post, but can suggest something else. My 2004 Cannondale t2000 came with a suspension seat post which was useless, but I thought the idea was good, so I bought a very expensive one which used springs and compressed gas, still not worth a darn. So next I'm going to try one of the Brooks saddles on springs, they get great reviews. Just a thought, for what it is worth. Good luck

I am running into that opinion more and more it seems. The problem is that I just barely bought a Brooks B17 last week and I dont know if I could justify buying another one. I have heard the Brooks seat with the springs (not sure of the model) is one seriously comfortable ride.

Return it. If you can not return, then either sell it on ebay or just ride it as is. Most of the great reviews that I have read about the B17 have been about un-sprung saddles. Give it a chance.

Only suspension seatpost I've heard good things about is the thudbuster/thudbuster road. I have a cheap susp seatpost on my hybrid that doesn't do much, but I don't really care. Have one on my training road-bike that I lifted from my wife's hybrid, and it doesn't do much either, but its just enough to make the difference.

I have a Thudbuster 3G LT that I just got for my Mtn Bike and now I'm going to buy a Thudbuster ST (Short throw) for my road bike....It's wonderful. You can get them from Alfred E. Bike (http://www.aebike.com) or directly from Cane Creek (http://www.canecreek.com).

If purchased from Wallingford, you can exchange it with no problem. Champion Flyer is the model which combines the B17 top with the springs.
Doc
I've said it before and I'll say it again Thudbuster are fantastic. The best thing you will ever buy your butt. I'm on my second one , the new ones are much stronger and better made then the old style. The only reason I upgraded was the trade-up policy from Thudbuster. Buy one!

I did and I agree.

There are a bunch of Brook's saddles with springs. The one I have that has the shape of a B17 is the Brook's Champion Flyer.
Very cushy and far preferable to using the suspension post I used to use before installing it.

though it costs mroe these hubs work very well. they smooth out the road and you don't get any pogo. http://www.pantourhub.com/products.html#wheel
its like running 25 PIS when your running 100. or even better really.

sure you can I am. so far no braking problems as long as I have the pads set right. though the disc versions would be nicer. rigth now I only have the front wheel with the hub.

With vertical movement of the wheel in relation to the brake pads, I still can't see how the pads can grab onto the rim's narrow braking surface. What am I missing here?
When I first read the title of the post I thought; "Why not a Brooks with springs!" The Conquest has served me well. Unlike a suspension seatpost it's not going to wear out on you during your lifetime.

My seat post shock sucks. Also I dont think I weigh enough to make it do much.
