Fifty Plus (50+) - Updated Listing of 50+rs Sharers of Experience

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It's a matter of semantics. I am in my 50th year. For all intents and purposes I am 49. But I am in my 50th year. In fact, the second half of my 50th year.

Does that qualify me for "membership" of this forum... and of this thread because I think I may have inadvertently conveyed some aspect of my experience to the forum??

Just joining in the over 50 crowd. Started riding last year after 40+ year lay-off. Looking for a tourer. (and a Hullavator for my kayak)

52er here. Raced in the 80's. Just bought a new one and was amazed at the advances in bikes since my last bike purchase 20 years ago.

57, riding a Litespeed ultima with spinergy wheelset; I've always had a bike--even an old beater for four years in Tokyo in the mid-70s. Once back in the US my wife and I got into mountain biking about 1980 and then in 2001, a friend died of AIDS and in his honor we started road riding to raise money for AIDS research/ support. We do the Aids LifeCycle ride every year from SF to LA. Right now (March) we're doing about 150 miles a week. IN a month that'll be up to 2-300. After the Ride in June--assuming we make our fundraising totals--we'll head down to Mexico (where we have a house, in San Miguel de Allende) and get back into off road riding for a while. It's a rhythm that hasn't changed for the past five years--six months of road training, a month of cool down, two months of off road, and three months of trying to make a living, restart a career while getting fat...then it all begins again...I feel stronger now then I did when I was 40 and I owe it all to biking.
