Yes, i'm a 5.9 tall mtn biker and I bought a 64 cm lugged chromoly road\racing frame.
Cheap and wow, it's super nice.
Too bad I can't ride it. Stripped\ hanging on the wall, waiting to sell.

I would never cheat on my bike by riding another :D

I'm thinking of picking up a cheap old roadie if I can find one. Just have to convince the roommate that anything under 30lbs belongs inside (already have 2 bikes and might be getting a jack russell soon).

Don't buy a Dahon, they fall apart fast, cheap cheap cheap cheap parts.

I had a Boardwalk and was lucky I could get it off my hands (sold it on Craigslist).

I bought 7 bikes in the past year, and sold 6 of them on Craiglist after I decided to upgrade or try something new.

I have a Pista now and am getting a Lemond once my tax refunds comes.

I'll probably get another fixed gear around summer time.

I once bought 6 bikes for $2.00 (total) at an auction. They were mostly rusted solid from being abandoned on bike racks on campus, but I more than got my money's worth out of the two sets of bars, a seatpost and two rims that were usable.

um, yeah.

I used to have a Diamond Back Formula 1. I rebuilt it with Campy cranks, longer stem, better shifter & brakes, longer seat post, and pool slicks. It was a cool bike. My brother had one just like it, we used to ride them around White Rock Lake. I ended up throwing it out when I got married, since I had no place to store it anymore (I'd taken the Campy cranks off by then).

Define "need" for me. Depending on how you look at it, I've ever never bought a bike that I didn't need or I've only bought bikes that I didn't need.

Hell yeah I buy bikes I don't need. I buy bikes for my wife that she doesn't need.
in fact I'm looking at 2 more bikes that I don't need.

Well I have 2 bikes and I just picked up a MTB frame I am going to build up as a SS plus I am looing at something for a road SS/fixie. I would guess after the 1st bike I didn't REALLY NEED any of the others.

As for Dahons being cheap, I disagree. There are not as many options for folding bikes as non-folding bikes. The lower-end Dahons may not be ultra high-quality like Bike Friday or Brompton, but then neither are they $2000. I like my Dahon Matrix very much. I would like to get a SpeedPro, but it's a bit out of budget at the moment.

I guess I don't "need" it enough.

I guess I only need one, I have 8 at home, 1 at work, but I'm still going to the police auction tomorrow just to see what's there. I'm also building up an accumulation of stuff, picked up shoes, rollers, repair stand, wheels and pump for $150 from a moving sale a couple of weeks ago. That makes for 4 pairs of bike shoes now. Part of the fun of biking for me is in the accumulation of lots of good stuff with minor cash investment.

It's just getting out of hand. I got to sell two bikes and thin the heard to 5 bikes. Since I mostly use one bike, the other 4 barely get used and the two I have to sell never get used anymore. Too many bikes take up too much space.

Hehe. I keep on thinking if I call it a "roadie" enough my roommate will somehow forget it is another bike long enough to go along with it :). Then I would have a commuter, MTB, and rooad bike. That seems about right for now.

Dahons don`t fall apart if you look after them and they are very good value for money. The Boardwalk is a basic model and surprise surprise the parts are basic but they are quite adequate.

I have an Impulse D6 and it is perfect for those journeys where I might need to bail out on public transport or I have to leave the bike standing around unsupervised for a while (I wouldnt try that with my Lemond).

Maybe a bit more bike maintenance would help?
