Touring - Approaching Charleston from the south
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

My buddies and I'll be coming up the coast in May, and would like to visit charleston. CrazyGuy seems to be chock full of horror stories of fast traffic and no shoulders (the latter confirmed through google streetview).
ACA has a spur on their maps, but only coming from the north.
Anyone have a reasonably safe way into town from the south? We'll be coming up the ACA route.

i remember riding my bike through Charleston while following the ACA east coast route up from Jacksonville. i don't recall any particular difficulties in getting there. that doesn't mean that there weren't any... i think i may have diverted off the ACA route before reaching Charleston in order to get to that island resort off the coast to visit some friends. let me check...
okay, i was on hilton head, so i probably just winged it from there to Charleston. i probably just used a local road map to get from Hilton head to Charleston.
