Which 50+rs rode today (February 10th, that is)?

I did! (Of course, or I wouldn't be asking!)

Anyone else?

I rode, but most of the group wimped out when it started raining prior to our scheduled club ride. Four of us however hammered away in the rain. I loved the ride, but hated the bike cleanup afterwards.

I got about 10 miles in but misjudged the wind direction and felt like I had a lot of energy until I turned into the wind to go home.

I like the wind pushing me home instead!!!!!

I use a bike to commute so I ride every week day but only about 10/20k depending on the route, although this week it rained on Thursday morning so I drove. I rode today Friday (Aus).

Tomorrow I'll train with my friendly tri group, about 50+k at an average of 32/34k per hr. Sunday I'll do a 1hr crit., with the 'Vets' club I support and Monday afternoons I do another 1hr crit with an open club.

Improving in leaps and bounds and loving it.

11 miles in one hour. Not fast but cold and hilly. Been trying to ride one hour per day or to exercise for one hour per day. So far have done well in February but did not do well in January.

It was yesterday, the 10th, when I did my usual 17 mile weekday ride. That was my third ride this week, my last until Sunday (usual Saturday ride is being replaced by a bass tournament). It was almost 60 degrees, cloudy, and not much wind.

Feb 12th, 30+ miles, Us 'not-retired folks' have a hard time on working days. Would commute but too dangerous my route. Broke a 100 for the year - Yea slow start! But ahead of last year.

Hey 'I'm Back" way to go!!! 28 years, lets see, I was 29 going on 30. Couldn't do 30 miles then. Couse I had my Varsity instead of a Litespeed!

February 12 "ride"

Wife and I journeyed to the Greenland Open Space (http://www.douglas.co.us/Manager/GreenlandOpenSpace.htm) exit (167) off of I-25 to the Douglas County area of 33,000 acres of open space and conservation easement.

We found the 10 mile loop trail - quite muddy yet. Rode our mtn bikes on some nearby dirt county roads, and had fun. Walked on the trail for about 1 mile out. Another hiker told us that it was quite beautiful a bit further out.

40's and breezy. Managed two short rides, about 2 hours total.
I'm using clipless pedals for the first time, so it was more of a trial run vs. a work out... BUT... after about 6-8 miles on the Cap City Trail, I'm beat. I got a long way to go.

I managed to not fall down once with the clipless pedals!

30 miles in February in Milwaukee. That is unusual for me. It's usually not this warm in February. It's my first time off the trainer this year. It felt great!

Okay, it wasn't 2/10 but I was able to get out and ride on 2/12. The temperature was nice (in the 50's) with bright sunny skies but unfortuately we had winds in the 10-15 mph range all day. I wanted to do a long ride and managed to put in 85 miles before I said ENOUGH!! Where I live, I had to ride out with the wind to stay on rural roads and unfortunately that meant the return trip was directly into a steady, unforgiving headwind. It was great to get out and explore roads I wasn't that familiar with although it took me a LOT longer than I would have liked.

Did a Feb. 12 ride on my Bacchetta Hi-racer. 35.5 miles with 9 other roadies. 35F at the start and 45F at the finish. Almost dead calm winds. Doesn't get any better than that!

Did 35 miles on my new bike today, from Brooklyn to the GWB and back. It was 35 degrees with a wind from the north so I had it in my face the whole way up, and at my back on the way back. I passed through Central Park on the way up and saw the Christo "Gates". Pretty incredible actually.

I stopped at the LBS (R&A cycles in Brooklyn, plug) on the way back to have them re-check my stem length because I felt it was a little long, and when he measured me he agreed and swapped it out. That's why I bought local, you just don't get that service on-line.

2/13/05: The cut-off low sitting off the CA coast gave us cool, dank conditions, but not much wind. I wasn't expecting much from my ride, but I got off to a fast start and decided to do some fast climbing. I went up Hazel Dell which goes part way up Mount Madonna, much of it through a really nice redwood forest. Then I zipped down new Mount Madonna Road at about 37 mph. I then went back up to Hazel Dell via Green Valley Road which is apple and grape country. I went down new Mount Madonna Road again, this time at 39 mph. I decided that it was time to get some flat miles out in the Pajaro River valley. Strawberries are ready again and workers were getting the raspberries going. I ended up working on speed while returning to Watsonville. 41 miles. Brightened up a dank day.

No riding outside during the week during winter for me, but yesterday (2/13) rode 48 mi. with club group. Beautiful mid-winter day in Central NJ. Sunny, a little breezy and about 38F. Rode close to 80 mi (two day total) previous weekend. Sunny, no wind and about 28F. I like winter riding - unzip jacket going uphill, and zip up tight going downhill. I think I'm going to miss the "instant AC" in the summer.

I did a test run on wet roads to check out my new Trek 1000C and it was great! It is my bike that I will be commuting when the weather is better here in Ohio. But today was about 10 miles of hills and wind work, you know the kind of ride that you try to test the bike but you’re really testing yourself and the bike. The fenders really worked as well. It protected my back and cranks stuff. The snow is trying its best to stick around and keep me off the bike.

The winds were howling here in Atlanta as well. Why is it that no matter which direction you are going it seems that the wind is always against you? I did 42 miles on Saturday and 74 miles on Sunday.

I got up at 0430, rode down to the pool and swam laps, and then rode back home for breakfast.
I work tonight and I will ride to work, as usual.
This will make a 25 mile day.
I often do 30 and I rarely do less than 15 miles a day.

Yea, I rode and also had a very long Walk. only 7 miles into my planned 30 miler and the Replacable rear derailler hanger decided to break. 7 miles into a ride and the same route home, across the same trails, mud, slush and Ice, and in cleated shoes. Looks like back to the gym for a week or so as the Tandem is currently in bits, and my son in laws Kona that has been in the garage for 18 months will not be loaned to me in case I break that aswell. (Got news for my son in law as it was out only a month ago when I had a flat on my bike just as I was about to start, and 30 miles of mud didn't hurt it then, so won't hurt it next week)

Drats! Tough luck on the rear bracket. That's a long walk as well. At least it didn't dampen your enthusiasm for getting back on the bike and getting back out again soon.

I did 60 miles on Saturday and 40 miles on Sunday-like others have mentioned the wind was "special" on Saturday (15 mph+) but very calm on Sunday. But hey, it's March!!

I'm trying a new saddle but I think this carbon technology while lighter might just be a bit stiff for this old guy when it come to putting it in a saddle.........

Breaking a rear deraileur is a good reason why I carry a chain break tool. You can bypass the deraileur and shorten your chain to fit on one of the cogs and ride home on a single speed.

I did. I ride every day because I don't drive, and my bike gets me to work. And after work I usually go for a long ride just for the h3ll of it.

Rode 18 miles and change today on the Centennial Trail. The wind kicked my butt on the way back to Mirabeau Point from Liberty Lake! I could only get up to 12-13 mph on that leg of the ride, but I'm a human sail, so I can't complain....

Put 14 fast (19mph avg) miles in yesterday in Prospect Park, and about 40 in today on a route through Central Park. I don't have a computer mounted so I don't know how fast I went today, but I know from experience how the time equates to mph in Prospect Park.

ahh the lovely rain has returned to the Pacific Northwest. I don't know what was nore fun.
doing a 22 mile club ride in a downpour on Saturday, or doing a 59 mile ride, 35 miles in a headwind,
last 3 miles in a headwind with stinging rain, today..... at least, when I got home, the recovery beverage (beer) was good
