Alright I am going to go see my first criterium in years after finding that some of the members of RBC will be racing cat 5. I considered racing but feel I am not realy yet for that type of race. My main motivation for going is to see how things have changed in years and also see how the pace is in cat5 and higher rankings.

What is the best place to watch the race? I am going to try and get in the middle of the track but it is a simple square track. I am interested in the start, pacing, cornering and speed.

Anyone here going to race on Sunday in this event? I would love to chat with a few people from the forum. I will most likely wear my club jersey to support the ones who are racing... I will be hard to miss :D

I have to miss mine because I want to see cat 5 racing which is early. Pro 1,2 should be fun but it is too late for me to see...

You should just race, don't be so worried about injury.

I would love too but my whole career relys on my staying injury free this year. Getting injured means not going to the police academy this year and that would be horrible.

Of course in 2 months I may enter a few, we will see where things go this season...

corner one on this course is the best for viewing.
everywhere else is a bit of a bore for both racing and spectating...but, the course is short enough that you walk it and find your favorite spot.

Most Cat 5 races have a tendency to be very fast the 1st few laps and if you are not ready can get dropped.. If you hang in the 1st 5-10 laps the pace will slow down quite a bit.. Also if you need to stay away from injuries, criteriums are not the place to do that. The lower categories can and do have a number of crashes.. Look for some Time trials to gauge your fitness and speed..

I do quite a few TTs each year, the toms farms one is my favorite. Next year will be different because I can be more agressive in the crits.

Thanks for the advice... I hope to see a few forum members there tomarrow... will be wearing my RBC jersey so I should be hard to miss...

Reactions...

Well it was awsome... the intensity was great. I feel that after talking to some of the people who raced that I am the CAT5 level. I almost decided to race today that is how good I felt.

Got some good footage. I will be making a short 2 - 3 minute video soon and showing it here...

Going to shoot tomarrow... even if it rains. Sure send the video away. I am sure it is too big for email though...

I will post it on the server again for a little while if you want... just pm me.
