I just purchased a new 2003 Kona Cinder Cone, with an EXR Air fork on it. This is my first air fork and I had a few questions. The fork feels great; however it makes an odd squishing noise, almost like there are a lot of air bubbles in the oil of it, is this normal? Also when air is let out of it, it seems like some oil is coming out of the valves as well. Thanks for your help; I sure can not wait to hit the trails on my new rig.

the squishing noise is probably the oil going through the valves. Im not sure what you mean when you say the oil comes out when the air lets out. is there a leak? if Im reading this correctly it is like I said oil going through the valves. it serves as a damper to control compression and rebound as well as lubricate the internals. if there is no leak, then from what Ive been told this is not a problem(the noise) others with more knowledge may disagree or add to this.welcome to the forum

Thanks for the welcome. When I let air out of the fork, via the schrader valve on the top of it, some fluid, either moisture or some sort of oil came out with the air. By no means did it squirt out in any quantity, however it did make a thin film or oil/fluid that covered my finger that I used to depress the valve.

I understand that one. when I first got my first "real up to date" fork I had the same questions. you have one up me by knowing they contain oil. its oil coming out. as long as its just a hint of a mist its no problem. if oil is coming out well, . it sounds like you have no problem to me
