Ulrick won't be able to ride the tour according to team telecom announcement, becasue of an operation done to his right knee, I guess, his chance for another tour title has gone from 90 % to about 10%

Ullrichs chance to win another TDF title is now 0% because he will not start the Tour. His knee problems are still there and his little car accident also mean trouble for him, not at least he was drunk. Ullrich now reached his lowest point in his career and now we will see how it is going on with him. This year he will not start at the Bayern-Rundfahrt, not at the giro and not at the TDF. Maybe he will be back for the Vuelta or the WC in Zoldern.
Now he has to proof he´s still a big champion and can get through the crisis.

Piratatello,

I totally agree with you his chance is 0%, I just place that 10% just for the sake of giving him a fighting chance and Lance, or maybe against himself.

Yesterday's Spiegel Online had a really critical article about Ullrich. The jist was that he is a big baby who, partly due to all of the special treatment he's been given, never really matured into a great rider. It talked about him lacking the will to win--a sort of "I won the tour once, and no one can take that away from me" attitude (he was quoted as saying just about exactly that). The article compared him to Boris Becker and Michael Schumacher, who likewise both hit it big in their sports at early ages but went on to remain true champions. It also compared him to Armstrong. Whereas Armstrong commands true "die for me" leadership at U.S. Postal; Ullrich is only the team leader at Telekom because he is just a bit better than everyone else there--he enjoys no loyalty.

So, in addition to his other troubles, Ullrich seems to have worn out his sympathy, at least among Germans. A guy I rode with this weekend said more or less the same thing as the article.

Maybe this year's travails will wake the boy up. Otherwise, I agree, his career will continue to slide. It's really too bad.

Cheers.
