Introductions - Inri

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Greetings from RI, USA!
Just over a year ago I had stroke after a short intense interval ride along the coast of Narragansett Bay. I'll be 56 this month (Goddess willing) & just ordered a new Calfee Tetra, since I lost the 10 pounds I told myself I had to lose before I'd get myself a new bike. While in Intensive Care last year the night after the stroke, the nurses woke me up to see if I was OK. Seems my heart rate was hovering around 38 & they didn't know what to make of it. Annoyed (they wake you up about every hour or two, anyway...) I told 'em I was sleeping. Anyway, the doc's cannot figure out what might have caused the stroke. Maybe just a wake up call... Wave if you see me on my brand new nude Tetra!

Be careful what you wish for ;-** To explain would require a different forum, perhaps. I am a pagan, and animist by inclination. Others might say "Inshallah", or "God willing". One thing I learned (graduating high school during the height of the Viet Nam war), was not to discuss religion or politics unnecessarily, or I'd continue on, discussing the ancient gods (& goddesses) like Isis, Kali, & the moon goddess in her various incarnations. So... anyone up for a Campy/Shimano debate??

Wow, very scary. Did the docs give you any specific instructions about riding/exercise now? Were you on the East Bay bike path when it happened last year ?
