Mountain Biking - general question

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
just out of interest what does everyone have their handlebar length as, and do you use straight or riser bars? oh and i guess that is dependent on what you do with your bike i guess,so that to!
Ive got an answer riser bar at 645mm with a 1" rise, i ride XC

I've never actually measured the width of mine! I have a pair of Answer Alumalites with a 1" rise on my freeride hardtail, and a pair of stock CODA bars with 1.5" rise on my C'Dale F2000.
Both have NOT been cut down, and are pretty wide compared to my last bike's flat bar. Took some getting used to!

Funnily enough I measured mine last night (does this make me a "geek")? I thought the bar was slightly too wide but it is a 56cm straight Syntace bar. I might chop off a cm or two because it feels just a little too wide. But then again I have been riding my other bikes a lot which have a smaller width. The bar is a few years old, so why do I want to do it now?
