Hey guys!
Either a '05 Norco Manik or Giant AC?
It's not my first bike I've ridden since about 4 (I'm 14) but seriously for 1-2 years.
So which one?

Norco kinda specializes in the FR/northshore kinda market.. I'd pick the Manik over the Giant based on that fact. :)

what's bad about the Ac?
Dannihilator
02-14-05, 12:18 AM
As being a former AC1 owner, let me give you a list.
The S shaped Seat post is flexy,
they crack at the stays,
Rear tire clearance is bad with it.
Way overpriced for the parts spec that came with it.
If you'd like to hear more, let me know.

that's fine.
I want a freeride bike at a good price with dual suspension.
What's available??

Why do you want full sus...as I'm sure thousands of other members are going to say, it's better to start building skills on a hardtail and then when you move to full sus you'll be rippin' like anything. What have you been riding up to now - bike and style?

But, the Manik will be fairly bad on DJs if that's what you plan to use it for (your original thread title seems to conflict with your present views)
the giant faith series is actually more freeride than the ac.

why is the manik a bad DJer?
I want to do the tiniest bit of dirt jumping.
A little bit over hucking.
A little bit of downhill.
And just riding around the street jumping things,
I'm a pretty good rider for 1 or so years serious riding so FS i don't think will be a problem.
But a want a cheap FS with good parts or proberbly the manik.

Your kidding me right? Im 14 and I just had a post like this because I couldn't decide between a Norco Manik and a B-line. Coincidence or what? Im going for a Manik and you should too.

The Manik will be rubbish on the DJs mainly due to the fork - it's so long and heavy it will be a b***h to throw about in the air. You'll be able to ride DJs, but the bike won't feel natural on them. Anyways, you should get the Manik - the B-line, being full sus, is a compromise for the same cash, and therefore you'll quickly find yourself wanting more bike than the B-line. Get the Manik, love it and then when you have the cash to get a good FR full sus, you'll be way ahead...

on the other hand, if you really want full sus, save up a bit and get the Savage or the Atomik. They'll be worse than the Manik on the jumps though...

So what's a good bike around the maniks price range for

it's hard to get 04 round here
the 05 is the same price as the manik, and better than the 04. The only problem i have with the manik for urban is that dual crown, look for a single crown with a good amount of travel
The Manik
the only reason you like the manik is because it does in fact come in root beer

Hey, can you type with proper grammar Dakwota?
First of all, I would say that you should get a HARDTAIL since hardtails are good for both freeriding and dirt jumping. Ask konarider24 or some other people here like Running With Sccissors Dude.
Yes, the kona roast is a good bike. So's the manik. But for what you want to do, it sounds like more street than anything else. For that, I'd probably reccomend the kona roast. It's strong for what you want to do, but don't do insane things on that hardtail without upgrading it, like konarider24 has. Of course, you don't have to spend as much as he did (don't even ask how much, but its A LOT). So, why do I reccomend the Roast?
It can do some DH, some DJ, some freeriding and is pretty good on the street. The manik is more DH/FR suited than anything, because it's heavier. You want something good all around don't you? Well, single crown fork is the way to go then and the geometry of the roast isn't too hard on you either.
Go kona.

Aussie prices are always heavily skewed. You guys get burned all the time. I would try to find a local builder..might be cheaper.

That's messed up. You'd think it would be less, them being closer to the factories and all

Nature of the beast I guess. But reallyexcluding a special shop I know of, if I buy through any lbs I pay 15 to 50% more than you would at american normal pricing. (even for canadian products):)
