This is posted on other forums, but the question remains the same: Can anyone recommend some great MTB shoes. Need good arch and shank support. Heard Sidis are good. What are you using?

Thanx

Ive got a pair of Pearl Izumi Vapor shoes with red and yellow flames on black, color scheme. Excellent support and great comfort but cost so much, I'm afraid to wear them and keep wearing the El-cheapo's I bought from Price point.* Sighs and thinks how good they look when he walks around the house*

This is always a topic of interest. I'm searching for a pair too. It's difficult in this area because most LBS do not stock a full line of shoes. I'm interested in the NikeŽ Men's Kato ATB Shoes (https://store.trekbikes.com/accessory_store/product_detail.jsp?product_id=4944&category_id=720), the Sette Enduro Shoes (http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/12966-285_SETEN4-1-Clothing-133-Shoes/Sette-Enduro-Shoes.htm), the 661 Nuevo (http://www.vsportgroup.com/gear/shoe_nuevo.html) and the 661 Tiburon (http://www.vsportgroup.com/gear/shoe_tiburon3.html). I want a shoe that has SPD capability as well as the ability to do some walking/hiking. I want something as close to a XC shoe as possibly versus the stiff ski boot feel. Does anyone have experience with these shoes?

For a ton of responses, search the forums.

Also, check out www.mtbr.com, though don't that those reviews as the gospel.

I've had a pair of Sidis for about a year and a half now and couldn't be happier with them. I liked them so much on the mountain side I splurged and coughed up the $175 for a road pair as well. You absolutely cannot go wrong with these shoes. Good luck.

My New Balance cross trainers seem to do just fine.

I've got a nice pair of Sidi Storm winter shoes. Unfortunately, the sole on one has separated from the upper. Going to try and repair it, but considering how much I paid for them and how little I've worn them(way too hot for spring/summer riding) it's rather disappointing. I also have a (formerly)nice pair of Diadora that I bought when I first started riding clipless. They're now falling apart(literally), but have lasted about 10-11 years. Had to re-secure the heels with glue/screws because they fell off a few times.

Just ordered a pair of Azore(?) shoes off Nashbar for about US$30. The price and size was right-we'll see how they work out on the trail....

Pearl Izumi
Specialized
Duegi
Vittoria
Answer
Shimano

There are only a few brands I'd stay away from (Lake being one of them), but other than that being said, all the other "name brands" are ALL good. It's just a matter of looks actually (and price of course), trust me....
