Mountain Biking - Best Platform Pedal Shoes

I have just built up a aggro hardtail; a Haro extreme 8.3 with 2.2 specialized enduro tires, Hussefelt cranks, haro platforms(I am looking at Horlzfeller pedals), and a psylo xc fork, and was wondering what a good shoe is for the platform pedals. I was looking at the Oakley Radars. Thanks.

I have a pair of 661 Hammer shoes and i think they're great. They are a skate style shoe. They grip real good on my platforms and have extra cushion in the soles and on the sides. I use them also as my regular shoes and they are just as comfortable walking around as they are biking.

Vans.

That's all I use, that's all I've ever used. Wait, I had a pair of Answer shoes that were o.k. but I still prefer Vans.

I'm running DC's, work awesome. I love the oakley shoes but they seem to be WAY overpriced for what your going to use them for. I would stick to vans or DC's.

RipCurl Rincons are used by a lot of pros now. I prefer to use my cheapies- grip the pedals better than my brand name shoes.

I use 661 Approaches, think they're the dogs nads to be totally honest with you, they have a thick base which provides strength, looks cool, and are seriously hard wearing, ive had mine for 2 years of riding everyday in muddy, rain, snow, all conditions and im only now considering buying another pair..

I just got these "Merrell Chameleon Stretch" hiking shoes. They grip my pedals very well and are quite comfortable. No dangling shoe laces, slip on convenience, and they look pretty good. They weren't cheap ($89), but they will serve as a multi-purpose shoe.

I used to be a Vans Old Skool guy, but they're way too flexible for extended rides or sessions, IMHO. I prefer a somewhat stiffer sole for support.
I am currently riding the Schley signature shoes from Lake, and I'm quite happy with them, both in terms of performance and durability.

Five-Ten is releasing a new shoe this season that is similar to the old Intense shoes (sticky stealth rubber soles), and I will probably try a pair of those out too.

I know no one will do what I do,but I'll tell you anyways. :)

for XC riding, I have a pair of 20 dollar shoes from shoes-R-us. I don't worry about getting them dirty and when they wear out, I can always get more, no matter what my wallet says.

I'd ride the same thing when I ride bmx, but I have friends that are pro's that give me shoes often enough. not often enough that I have more then one pair at a time though...:)

I refuse to pay 70 bucks or even 50 for a pair of shoes that I am going to beat the crap out of. (but i'll take them when they are given to me. :D)

I just ride with some old new balance trail shoes. The soles are a little run down now and the rubber is very soft so the pins from the pedal just stick right into the shoe. Ive also got some airwalk skate style shoes which work great too.

etnies valley=nice ankle padding,flat grippy sole. i'm on my 3rd pair. intense made a shoe a few years back and i heard they are bringing it back. people liked these a lot .i forget the name.or a pair good ol vans w/that waffles sole

The bottom of skate shoes are flat, good for halfstep pedals with pins.

It's so, I've been wearing Vans for many moons.My first pair were checkerboard back in about '82.I like them because they are tough.My current pair I've had for 2yrs.

Globes they are so good for cussion so comfortable the Chet Thomas Model is the schizzle.

Airwalks and Convers All Stars work really well. So do flat-soled combat boots!

Get Vans, they are cheap, grip very well, and are comfortable for everyday wear.

Oakley makes a real nice pair. I cant remember the name, but they are on the expensive side.

I won't ride with anything that has an arch on the sole. FLAT skate shoes are the only way to go. Get something BMX specific and it'll have a pedal gripping, stiff sole.

no they supposbaly are bad for your arch support because they have no arch but i have some dr.scholls arch supports and just slip them in those bad boys and im off
