I just went to see "Phantom of The Opera" and boy was it AWESOME! Probably the only problem the movie had was the direction. I thought Schumacher would be good at filming a musical, since alot of his movies rely on spectacle. However, the places it could have dragged got pulled together by the INCREDIBLE Andrew Loyd Webber soundtrack. If you don't like musicals, well, this one won't make you start, but otherwise it's pretty good. This had the effect of rendering me 23% gayer than I already was after "The Magnum PI Incident", so I am now, in effect, 100% gay,(and when I say gay, I mean likes to kiss boys!)

The real test of your gayness is whether you liked Moulin Rouge. Bonus gay points if you bought the soundtrack.

You know, Moulin Rouge would have been good if they had had one original song in the whole movie! Medleys of popular songs might've been passable for a segment of the movie, but not the whole damn thing. I love Hip Hop, with all the sampling, but a ****in' MEDLEY is a whole different animal.

Moulin Rougue was dog vomit. It's not even worth watching muted to check out Nicole Kidman

I never even saw the movie, from the previews it didn't look to good. Heard the music, although i'm not into that 'hip- hop non stop' music anyway. *sigh* rock is too popular these days, infact its a shame really, when will people see the light.....

I guess that makes me straight...not that there's anything wrong with that.

Actually, liking Phantom of the Opera doesn't make you gay. Liking a production of Phantom starring Barbra Streisand and Barry Manilow...now that might make you gay.

What's next Cats? :roflmao:

You really need to see, empathize and like The Sum of Us a really cool film out of OZ... also there's the Torch Song Trilogy.

These are requsite viewing to affirm your place in Homodom. Enjoy them. :D

There were a couple of original songs in Moulin Rouge. I loved the "El Tango de Roxanne" (bonus gay points for knowing the track name off the top of my head). Hmm...I guess I really didn't need the "the" before El, did I? [Chris Farley]El Nino is spanish for...THE NINO![/Chris Farley]

Watch out straight guys!... It seems that music can now turn people gay. Kristoferson is the first convert by music. Watch out!

Well, I have "Moulin Rouge", "Chicago", and "West Side Story". Plus, about ten Streisand CD's. But, I can't dance to save my life, so no way I'm more than 27% "gay".

Enjoying a musical requires suspension of rational thought. Everyone knows that New York street gangs don't break into song after a street fight - but, perhaps in some alternative universe...

It can help to "prepare" yourself to suspend rational thought before seeing a musical. A couple of bottles of a nice Chablis can do the trick. Three bottles if the musical "stars" John Travolta.

Moulin Rougue was dog vomit. You are being way too kind. The only positive thing about this movie is that big stud Ewan Mcgregor was in it.

No sir, if it was just music, I would've been gay a long time ago. Hell, we all would. This was the full audio/visual senses-shattering spectacle what sent me over the edge. Much like what was done to Alex in "Clockwork Orange".

LMMFAO!

Seriously, tho(not!)-- the only musical film I've liked so far is South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. The title does sound pretty gay. I've lost count of how many times I've seen it. Hmm, now that I think about it, I do have a copy of Violent Femmes - Add It Up. Am I doomed to gaietyness!?

One of my all-time favorite films is also from Oz, Strictly Ballroom. Very gay film, without having any gay characters. Same director as Moulin Rouge (which personally, I liked more than Phantom).

I love "Strictly Ballroom", The soundtrack is one of my favorite things to listen to at work.I wish they still made as many musicals as in days gone by... The only thing wrong with Phantom was it was obvious the director didn't really know how to film a musical. I mean, who's he gonna ask? It's sort of like when bigger director's all of the sudden want to do a martial arts movie, with no experience. Chances are it's gonna suck because martial arts movies have certain rules as far as how you film action sequences, if you don't know them, your film is gonna look like a morass of ****. It reminds me of Jet Li in "Lethal Weapon 4(?)", they asked him to slow down his movements because they couldn't catch them on camera! I'm sure John Woo could've showed them how...

This kind of bugs me. I don't get on your little hipster "pie" threads and try to harsh your mellow. Go do another trackstand thread or something.

I don't do the goddamned "hipster 'pie' threads." I have nothing to do with that annoying trend. Harsh my mellow? Whatever.
