Hi,

I am considering becoming a member of bikejournal.com which according to their home page is
"designed to provide you, the avid or recreational biker, with a convenient and fun way to track your rides and meet other bikers."

I am just wondering if anyone is a member of bikejournal.com? How do you like it?, and are there any other alternative groups that you prefer?

Thanks in advance for your comments!

If you're planning to keep a journal of a tour you might want to check out - and use - crazyguyonabike.com (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com).

I like it. it is a good motivator for me ,several people from my local bike club are also members so I try to keep up with or ahead of them in mileage. There is also a thread in the forum for a Century-a-month challenge that I participate in.

IMO only two minor negatives, One is that it has become popular and their web server can be very slow at times. The other negative is that you can't allow other people to view your journal. Both of these are so minor to me that it doesnt matter/

I agree with Denise, the crazyguy site is a great community of people who love touring and love sharing their experiences.
Hey Denise, what is that little critter under your name tag? I miss your smiling face. My official guess, is a pink moose. Should we do a poll?

I use it, and I think it's fine.

I also use the BigDogs site to log my miles.

Greg -
Nope, it's a dog! That little critter is Rover, a mini-Beanie baby who likes to go on tour with me. That picture actually came from my cross country trip, an overnight at the city park in Larned, Kansas (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/journal/page/?o=ao&page_id=2517&v=0)! Maybe I should put my face back...

I use it to log my commuting and rec miles. It's very easy to use and spits out all kinds of unimportant data for the number geeks. How many days a month you ride, avg speed per month and so on. I just wanted to see how often I ride month to month. it is a little slow at times.
