Poprad brake pads

Hello,

It seems like the brake pads on my 2004 poprad are hard on the rims. I feel like I'm digging rocks out of them after every other ride and even when they're as clean as I can make them it sounds like sandpaper grinding against the rims. I haven't had any problems like this with other bikes and I worried that the rims will get worn down prematurely. Has anyone else had problems like this? Should I just change the brake pads?

how long have the pads been on there?

take some sandpaper to the pads, ive read that brake pads can get like a coating on them from road grime and grease and dirt and such and that that is what causes what youre talking about. you should clean your pads and rims after you go for an offroad ride as well to prevent this from happening in the future, unless theyre just old and in that case replace them.

I bought the bike new last year and the pads have always been like that. The first time I road it I stopped to look for rocks in the pads because it sounded like it was grinding but they were clean. I tried the sandpaper thing and that didn't seem to help. I'm just going to get new pads, they're not that expensive.

WHy not just change out the pads to an up grade like an Aztec pad. I use them on my Poprad and and have no problems .
