Okay, I have a 1970's Schwinn Le Tour that I would like to convert to a fixed gear bike. I am having a hard time figuring out exactly what I might need to do it. Is there a simple way to make it a fixed gear or will I have to buy a new hub and sprockets and what not. I guess I also can't figure out how much a conversion should cost. If anyone can help that would be great.

you know, there's alot of information out there on this. The minimum of work will be to -
Have the old freewheel replaced with a track (single) cog, held in place by either a similar size/thread lockring, usually a bottom bracket lockring, or some loctite.
You'll have to make some adjustments to the axle spacing of the rear wheel, then you should probably redish the wheel. You can probably do this yourself if you work carefully and methodically.
Take off a chainring, shorten the chain, and you're good to go for under $50.

Then, do what you can until you run into a problem. Then ask very specific questions, and people here will be happy to answer them. General questions, not so happy.
good luck!
