What a sweet bike, I picked it up from Toga Bike shop this afternoon, it wasn't assembled yet so I had to wait about an hour and a half but I ended up buying the Specialized Comp MTB shoes and Shimano SPD pedals too.

I used to work at their downtown location but abruptly quit, but I saw Dave the owner today and he said hi and asked me why I quit, I told him candidly my reasons and he was really cool about it and told me I should have just spoken to him about my problem.

Anyway, they gave me 10% off the shoes, pedals and tires (not the bike though).

So the 1st ride...

It was freeeeeking cold in NYC today so I only took it for 1 lap around Central Park after it was all ready.

It rides swell, the Shimano 105s shift perfectly.

I AM A HAPPY Little Kid today!

GRRRR....!!!!

The water bottle mount braze-on on the seat-tube is loose (I mean instead of unsrewing, the screw just turns because the little metal sleeve that connects the mount to the frame is loose!)

I hate that! I've seen that on a couple of new Specialized models before, but I'm upset that it happened on my new bike!

The thing that really pisses me off is that I kept fidgeting with it trying to get the screw to come off and I chipped the paint off all around one of the holes.

Schietz! Should I take it back to the shop and tell them or should I just not bother with putting a water bottle cage on there?

This sounds like a manufacturing defect . . . . plain and simple. I'd make sure you take care of it asap. I have only talked to a Lemond rep once when I was still considering purchasing my Poprad. I was impressed with his attitude. If it was my Poprad with the defect I think I'd call Lemond and see what they recommend. They should be sending a shiny new bike to replace yours . . . . or at least a new frame with an agreement to pay for the labor to build it. In the alternative, you could go through the shop where you got it. Sometimes starting at the top is good idea though.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem! :(

I sent an email to Lemond Bikes today and told them about it, they got back to me within minutes (I was surprised)...

Basically they said it is covered under warranty but the dealer (bike shop) will determine what needs to be done. I'm not sure if this will mean the frame will be replaced for me or if they're just going to get their mechanics to fix it.

I know that some bike shops can weld the braze-ons on there so they won't come loose.

In terms of the bike itself, there are no other flaws at all, I love the bike, just that 1 single loose braze-on.

I'm planning on getting a Chris King headset installed on it too, and planning on riding this bike until I'm old and gray.
