Foo - Ignore lists

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
It has been drawn to my attention that I might actually be on some subscribers' IGNORE lists. Dread, horror, shock!!! I am devastated that I've joined the ranks of Burly-Surly and SuperTrooper, and D*Alex and pokey (the latter two are BF legends) and probably sydney... sigh.
Could I have offended anyone from a little ol' island in the Southern Ocean so much that they seek the IGNORE option? Even a poster who was the last one I suspected to have given me such status (but then ebay manipulations do funny things to people's ethics)?
Oh well.
I figure you're either a play-by-the-social-rules person... or not.
If not, then you're like me and will get out there and stir things up to provide a bit of excitement and entertainment. Stir certain people out of their comfort zone. Get people thinking about who they are, why they do what they do.
Anyway, don't be shy.
Let us know who's on YOUR ignore list, and why. Coming out might be a good way to solve the nasty thing that caused you to seek out the IGNORE button in the first place.
But also, let us know whose list you think you might be on.... all for a laugh.... or not.
Me? Of course... I'm being the troll. You first.
PS: I think the Ignore button is a cop-out. I've never Ignored anyone. Simply because everyone's post is worth reading, no matter how offensive they may be; usually they are very entertaining... and often informative. I might not respond to them, but I wouldn't "IGNORE" them.

I used to have someone named Jacob on ignore. He made the weirdest posts. But I took him off because I didn't like the message I saw when he had posted (the Bikeforums message that said "This person is on your ignore list" with an option to either view it or not). I would always view the post anyway, so I figured it was useless to have the guy on my ignore list if I was going to read his posts anyway.
Anyway, no one is on my ignore list anymore. And I have no idea if I am on anyone's list. I am such a perfect angel and never say anything that would offend anyone, so I would not imagine that I would be on anyone's ignore list. :D

Never fear, Rowan, I still love you!
I do have one guy/gal on my ignore list, because every time I respond to anything he/she writes he/she goes ballistic, attacking me or whatever. So, why waste the energy responding or even reading, particularly as he/she has nothing much worthwhile to say, anyway. It is better for both of our mental health.
But, like MsVicki, I find it is truly NOT an ignore list. The message simply whets your appetite to see, just once more, what the A$$hole has written.
So, it is an attempt at futility!
It would be nice if it was TRULY an "ignore" list.
And, no, I am not going to tell you who that is.
I have never used the Ignore feature. If I want to ignore them, I do as Ms Vicki does, I don't read the posts. But even then, I don't do that often either. Everyone has something to say and I am always curious about what it is. I cannot resist the weird, mean, or inane. It's all good.
One thing Rowan's post brought up that puzzles me. Is the ignoree (sic) made aware they are being ignored by the ignorer? It would be nice to know if I am on anyone's hit list. I won't waste my breath on them if I am.

I hope I am on lots of ignore lists! Means I have made some sort of impact, even if negative.
Rowan, this has to be one of your more silly posts. Congratulations.

I laugh at how much people get pissed when someone quotes another who's on their ignore list. So I quote thee at their expense!

Geez crum, how many times do I have to suck up to you by saying I like your style?
Think man, Think!

Hmm. Seems a tad unfair. Oh well, the rules is the rules. I can live with it. On a message board long ago, I aggravated a particular poster. I did not just aggravate them, I went for the jugular at every opportunity. Anyway, they put me on ignore and once a week, I was informed that yes, they were still ignoring me. It did not bother me because I could still twist them by responding to another post and referencing their post. The whole ignoring thing seemed so silly. All it did was feed my fire.
I visualize the physical manifestation of the cyber ignore mode as someone holding their hands over their ears and going "Ahh Naa Ahh Naa Ahh Naa" real loud so they can't hear.
Think man, Think!
Why the Hell would I want to do that?
What's this thread about? All I see is "This Person is on your Ignore List" messages?
WTF?

The ignore feature is for people with sticks in the butt.

I don't have anyone on my ignore list. But I think I'm a member of my wife's ignore list sometimes, and my kid's "selective hearing" lists. :o
I don't have anyone on my ignore list either. I have to laugh at people who get all upset at someone for what they say. The reason being is this is a message board and you can say something that could be totally taken out of context. If I don't like what someone says then oh well, move on.

I was wondering this myself. I don't like the ignore featur because when the thread makes no sense you would have to go back and click on the ignored threads anyway, to figure out what is going on.

I have 2. Generally I am not worried about a good debate but have placed people on ignore who are ignorant and can't be debated with. If I wanted to argue with someone who can't accept another persons point of view and just argues to feel cool I would argue with a 13 year old boy about just anything under the sun. I see no point in reading the drivel by the people I have on ignore and generally the posts don't interupt any flow of thread that I notice.

I don't put any one on the ignore list...I have a ignorant list, but that's in my head.
I worked in nightclubs for 7 years, so most of the conversations here seem pretty civil.

Umm, how do ya do that, anyways? I can't even remember to quick reply, much less ignore someone.
G'day,

si there any way to tell who's ignore list you're on?

I use the ignore sparingly, but usually for good reason. The frst time was someone Iguess mistook me for someone else, and accused me of posting racial slurs. That got my goat and it started a little firestorm, since I don't want everyone on these forums who comes across that to automatically think krispistofferson=racist. So he promised to ask the mods, and edit his post after he figured it out. As far as I know that never happened, guess it's easier to level charges than wear them? Anyway, after seeing the way the guy treated other posters, too, I just put him on "Ignore" and put the situation behind me. My point is that sometimes people just have an axe to grind with YOU personally, whether you've done something or not, that's a good time for the "Ignore" function. I've since removed that guy, since he seems to have cleaned up his act a bit.
SuperTrooper was on there, but I asume he's gone now, since I never see his name starting any misogynist threads like "Why Are Women So Stupid?" and such.
There's two guys on the P&R forum that are on my list, one because he just hates America and Americans, that's what all his posts and comments are about. Even people who take his side don't like him. As for the other guy, well, he got all hot and bothered about what I had to say, trying to twist all my words into paranoid rantings, and when that wasn't enough, followed me to another thread to resume the attack! I probably wouldn't have put him on ignore if ANY of his posts were constructive in any way, but he just likes to make below the belt insults at anyone who disagrees with him. I assume thats him being a drama queen up above there. The only thing I miss about him is the picture of Tom!

Well, what can I say? I'm an antagonistic on the political forum. Jeez, I'm sorry.....I guess :p
I've always enjoyed our banter, it's a shame you took it personal. You seemed "cool" to me, but what did I know. When one subscribes to having their opinions challenged one would accept lively banter to follow. Apparently you believed I've misunderstood the rules of engagement...carry on.
Come kiss my mustache and make up? I promise to be nice-er. :roflmao: :roflmao:

<oops, I deleted you again>
stalking isn't funny. It's not upsetting either, there's just no entertainment value to it. Keep it up and I'll recommend your account (and IP even) be banned. Ironic considering how much of a jackass I am.
Be entertaining or go home.
I've got 20 people on my ignore list, most of them have been banned already. There's only a few that are active annoyances

Maybe I'm ignorant, can you tell me what you mean by stalking?
Just look around you, big majority of posts are not meant to be entertaining, just questions and answers. Am I wrong? Have you thought about put me in your list? It's much easier. Or is there any problem you can't?

I miss Pokey, D*Alex, CampagFetishboy, Mike hasn't been around for a while.
