Hey, lately I've been dirt jumping, nothing big, just a 2 or 3 ft high launch ramp made out of dirt. Well, my friend always tells me to let air out of my tires because it controls better and jumps smoother on dirt. Is it ok to lower the tire pressure? My tires say 45 min. and 65max. , so should I not go any lower than 45 psi. ? It does seem to make a HUGE difference though, because ever since I lowered mine a little, it has been soooo smooth. I was just checking. Oh, also, when I switch over to more concrete and street riding stuff, should I make sure that my tires have more pressure in them, or does it not really matter? Thanks!

It's almost all preference, you just want to make sure that you don't bottom out. So if I were you I wouldn't go under 55 or 60 no matter what your riding. But like I said it's almost all preference so just try out anything from the least PSI to about 70 PSI and deside for yourself what you prefer.

Yea, it is presference. If it says 45 is the lowest sugested, I wouldnt go lower than that. For riding street, I usually stay just shy of the max. If its 45 to 65, I go to 60. If it's 90-110 i'll do 100. Dont really know why I do that, but if I were you I wouldnt keep it too low cause you dont want your rim hitting the ground and such and it can make you fall over if you try too steep of a turn. whateva'.

Ok, thank you for your help. Yeah, it seems to handle better with the air pressure a little lower on dirt, but not so much as on street. I've never actually inflated my tires past 55 PSI, I wonder what it would feel like? But anyway, thanks for your help.

Thank you also, you've been a big help. I'll just try and expeiriment within the limits of my tires, see what I like best.

i think its smoother because with lower pressure you won't feel any rocks or bumps

Yeah, I did notice that when I lowered mine. It really shouldn't hurt the rims because you're jumping on dirt and no matter how hard it's packed, it always flexes a little, unlike concrete.
