Bicycle Mechanics - ISIS installation queries.

I purchased a set of Truvativ Elita cranks on ebay and an FSA Platinum Pro BB and I'm in the process of fitting them but I want to check something. Do you need to have washers between the crank arm and the axle? At the moment I can clearly see appx 1/16 of the axle splines.

No you dont need washers. You want that small space to be there so you dont grind the crank arms on the bottom bracket.

Ok thanks, I just thought the crank arms should bottom out on the axle shoulder.
I do have another question. On the non drive side cup there's about 1/16 of threads visible, shouldn't there be a lock-ring or something on there?

Do yourself a favour read parktool's intallation guide, the crank will bottom out when you tighten, that's teh ISIS pressfit. You absoultely need the washer (at least with all ISIS cranks i know) between the crank bolt and the crank.

Maybee im confused....when he says washer between axel and crank arm, does he mean crank arm and the bolt that holds the arm to the spindle?

If thats what he means....washer for sure, I thought he was talking about a washer between the arm and the bb shell because he said he could see a small section of the spindle.

Yeah the washer goes between the crankbolt and the crankarm... not between teh spindle and teh crankarm...better not mess that up becuase you can destroy the cranks if you tighten the crankbolt down without the washer there....
