Any thoughts or experiences in regards to the Zone diet? As a vegetarian, I picked up the Soy Zone book a few years ago and LOVE it. The only qualm I have is catering it to my activity level (6 dys/wk, 1-2hrs/dy).

Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks!
Karna :)

General rule-of-thumb: higher aerobic acitivity levels call for a higher percentage of carbohydrates in the diet. I follow a quasi-vegan (small amounts of dairy and fish) high-fiber diet which, at roughly 65% carbs (mostly complex), 20% protein (well-complemented amino acid mix), and 15% fat (largely flaxseed, olive oil, avocado, wheat germ, soy/tofu, and nuts) falls between the Pritikin (80-10-10) and Zone (40-30-30) recommendations.

Hey John ~

So, if you were to follow the Zone diet (40/30/30) and maintain your current activity level you'd feel lethargic? Cranky? Unable to improve performance-wise? Just trying to figure this all out. I've been able to follow the 40/30/30 ratio pretty well, I just wonder if there's a chance to *up* my performance even more...

Thanks for your comments!
