My bike has a loose water bottle mount braze-on on the down seat tube.

Does this have any affect on the structural integrity of the frame? Or is it more of a nuisance in that I can't get the screw off to mount a water bottle cage?

I'm taking it back to the LBS for them to inspect on Friday, if they can replace the frame that'll be great, but I'll have to wait a couple of weeks probably for the new one. I know what a pain warranty issues can be sometimes.

The bike is my new LeMond by the way.

I experienced the same situation an old GT Zaskar MTB frameset made from 7005 aluminum. I used one of those monstrous aluminum cages that made bottle removal difficult. So the manhandling while on the trail stressed the bottlemount and it came loose. I took it to my LBS and they just replaced the inserts and several years later, its still firmly implanted without any adverse affects on my frame.

Needless to say, I don't use the Beefy Ringle water bottle cages anymore.

This topic has come up recently. Do a search on rivnut.

The shop won't have to replace your frame. The braze-on can be repaired.
