Mountain Biking - oh no...

i was on the verge of finishing my bike yesterday, but couldnt remove the bottom bracket, so i figure id go down the bike shop and get them to do it. turns out the the bottom bracket, is well and truely stuck in there and even the lbs cant get it out. i have ordered some PlusGas to try and loosen whatever crap is stuck in the threads, im gonna soak it for about a week when i get the PG, but if that doesnt work has anyone got any ideas on how to remove a seized in bb, other than getting a new frame :( the frame is alumimnium so there is no way that the bb can be removed with heat treatment or anything like that, anyone else ever had a similar problem? i really dont fancy having to get a new frame, plus i dont think i could afford one.

Three guys, a strong workstand, an absent bike owner, a NEW can of PB Blaster and a long lever arm (cheater tool) with the bottom brackett tool securely attached.

It can be ugly, but it'll come out!

I assume it is the fixed cup that is "fixed" in place. Perhaps a former owner tried to unscrew it the wrong way (do you know for sure whether you have English/1.37x24/LH or Italian/36x24/RH threading?) or used LocTite to solve a chronic self-loosening problem.

not sure, how would i be able to tell, and how does this affect the bb?

ive just answered my own question, it the english but i think it is seized in, could be loctite, dont think it is the previous owner tho, anyway, i got my PlusGas today and am soaking the bb, ill leave it like that for a few days and hope that lossens it.

I don't know how valuble this is to you but if you could maybe take it a machine shop or a welder they may some pretty strong and slippery solutions to fix your problem.

all is well, i managed to get the bb out after 3 days soaking in PlusGas and me and a mate using brute force :D.

Unfortunately tho I think the threads on the pedal side of the frame may be a bit damaged, possibly slightly crossed, is there anyway this can be put right, say by getting someone to re-thread it, or am i just stuck with it the way it is? the threads as they are make the bb hard to screw in and i dont want to end up with the problem i just solved all over again.

You should have no problems getting the threads chased at a bike shop.
