I know the new Dura Ace wheelset WH-7800 is not compatible with 9 speed cassettes. I was wondering if it would be possible to replace the freehub body on a 10 speed wheel with a 9 speed freehub body, then mount the 9 speed cassette. Any mechanics out there that can answer this question?

You can get an exploded view of shimano hubs at shimano.com it looks like it won't work.

Charles: Thanks for the tip. You are right. The freehub bodies have a completely different shape. The WH-7800 freehub has a weird protusion on the inward facing side. The locknut is different, and so is the axle. Trust shimano to fix it so that the only way you can use one of their new components, is to use all of them.
