Introductions - Singlespeeder, new to Seattle

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi.
Oh my goodness, look at those hills! Perhaps I'll chose a lower gear. . . My legs are gonna be hot.
As far as I can tell, everyone drives here. Where can I meet all you bike folk?
Welcome to Seattle! Check out Cascade Bicycle Club at www.cascade.org or the
Seattle Bicycling club at www.seattlebike.org. If you have a single speed your are going to
have legs of steel! The city of seattle has a free fairly decent bike map. If you work/live anywhere
downtown, Bikestation at 311 3rd ave S (Pioneer Square) usually has copies, actually just
log onto www.ci.seattle.wa.us/transportation/bikemaps.htm. All kinds of good info there,
including King County maps, etc. Be aware that Seattle has a helmet law. I've not seen in enforced
on Capitol Hill, or West Seattle, but you will get ticketed on the Burke-Gillman Trail and on the
I-90 lid. Personally I never ride without my helmet

Thanks for the info! I appreciate it. I just discovered that Recycled Cycles is very close to my house. Seems like an awesome shop.
And yes, I wear a helmet all the time -- law or no law. Getting hit and landing on my head was really good incentive.
