I remember a couple shops in L.A. were mentioned that carry a decent selection of track stuff but can't find the info. anyone got any recommendations?

Velo Pasadena has a fair amount of track stuff. Theres that on shop in Redondo Beach which I forget what its called. Errr I guess it really depends on what you're looking for. To find my stuff I usually go to Open Roads in Pasadena, Velo Pasadena, or the Bicycle Kitchen depending.
As far as in stock track stuff, Velo is your best bet of the three, methinks.

I'm not sure how close they are to LA, but Bill Ron Bikes is one of the best sources (in California & entire country) for track equipment. He has one of the best selections of track frames I have ever seen (ie. Carbon Fiber Gan Well!!). Has a great tubular tire selection as well. Also has good luck with vintage / NOS items. Well worth the time / effort to visit.
