So I recently finished building a Gunnar Street Dog... I've spent the last year and a half or so planning and saving for it, and now that I've got it I'm not sure I made the right choice. I'm thinking that for the amount I spent on this bike I could've built two damn sweet (probably road coversion) fixies, and that while they wouldn't be the absolute shi+ like the Gunnar is, there'd be two of them, so I could ride with my wife or my brother when he visits... which I think would make me happier than riding a sweeter bike alone all the time... that, and I wouldn't have to stress as much over whether my bike is still going to be there when I get out of class. My question for you folks is this: If I were to list the Gunnar on ebay with an $1800 reserve (I spent at least $2200, and I've ridden it less than 20 miles), would any of you be interested? And if you wouldn't be personally interested, do you think it would sell?
56cm Gunnar Street Dog frame (853 and OX platinum) in Charcoal silver, maker's marks only, no brand/model decals
Street dog fork (531), threadless, black
King HS, purple
Salsa cromoly stem, black
Nashbar bullhorns (didn't want to commit a lot of money to handlebars that I'd probably change my mind about), white cork
SKS fenders, black
Phil Wood SS BB
TA Alize track crankset, 48T
Izumi chain, 1/8", silver
EAI 18T cog
Suntour lockring
Salsa Shaft seatpost
Turbo saddle, white perforated
Wheelset built by Peter White: Surly 36 hole hubs, rear fixed/fixed, silver (36 f/f not available in black); Velocity Deep Vs, black; Wheelsmith DB 14/16 spokes, black; brass nips
Vittoria Rubino 700x25c tires, white tread

If anyone shows interest, I'll post pictures once I get some film developed.

I really doubt you'll get that much for it on ebay, even though it sounds really nice.

Yeah man, most definately not. I might as well get my own, from the factory, at the price yer asking. Gunnar is a real bad choice for a beater bike.

i personally think that 2k is too steep. you'd be better off parting it off

ps: were i looking for one, i'd pay no more than 1300 for it

Yup, I know it hurts to think of it, but I suspect you might be able to get around $1200.

You might have better luck stripping the frame and using those parts to build up a new frame and selling the frame alone. Probably lose less money that way.

i agree with BT. keep the components and try selling the frame. you try to sell everything, you lose money on everything.

How about, instead of selling it and losing money, just keep it and enjoy it. In the meantime, save up some dough and build up a cheap beater for the wife or for locking up. I think you'll lose less money overall this way...

If you absolutely want to sell it, you should maybe try dealing with a local shop, and selling it on consignment if you can.

never works to sell a custom build - you always lose mucho money... I've done it. Just keep the bike and ride on.

if i'm gonna drop that much money i want to have the fun of picking everything out myself, getting exactly what i want, and building as much of it as i can by myself.

i sure can't afford it, but i'd still like to see a picture. sounds like hot stuff. i especially dig the (mental picture of) purple headset and white tires.

Most people are skeptical when it comes to bikes with no brand or model labels on it. When I see one I automatically think "scam".

i don't think that's necessarily true, it's usually not to hard to distinguish a quality frame from a crappy one by looking at workmanship, dropouts/trackends, listening to the way the tubing sounds.

I agree, but if I was dropping over a grand on a bike I'd want to know 110% that it is what the ad says.

if it wasn't coming from a manufacturer or a shop, i wouldn't buy a frame for that kind of money without seeing it in person anyway.
