What are all the different styles of BMX, and could you define them so I know what eacj of them includes?

And what is the style of riding that includes ramps and grinding things, and the riders have bikes that are light enough to have no trouble with rotations?

Ex...

Street - (with a definition)
Dirt - (with a definition)
FreeStyle - (with a definition)

Hello, im relatively new to this whole bmx scene too, but ill give it a go at trying to explain and others can correct me where ive gone wrong.

From what ive gathered:

BMX- originally meant bicycle motocross, racing round dirt tracks as fast as you can.

BUT.......

Bmx now includes aswell.....flatland, street and dirt. These 3 are known as 'FREESTYLE' bmx.

FLATLAND- really difficult, lots of concentration, cool tricks on FLAT-LAND, just the bike and you.
STREET- just what it says, you use everyday things you find in the street to do tricks off, like grinding and jumping on and off stuff.
DIRT- where you pedal as fast as you can towards a big jump made out of dirt, get some big air and pull cool tricks. Can be very sore if it goes wrong, but good fun(and ive only ever jumped little jumps!)

SO I MAY HAVE JUST GOT THAT ALL WRONG, BUT IF I HAVE IM SURE SOME HARDCORE BMXer WILL PUT ME RIGHT!:-)

I will define each bmx style on here.

Street-Riding on the streets. Doing tricks on stairs, rails, poles, walls, ramps, and more.

Flatland-Doing tricks on flat land.

Dirt jumping-Jumping dirt jumps. Doing tricks in the air when jumping on a dirt jump.

Vert- A ramp that is tall and that is shaped like a U. Doing tricks in the air when you are on it.

Bmx racing- Racing people on bmx bikes on dirt jumps.

Freestyle- Trick riding.

Track and trail- Riding on dirt jumps or riding on dirt.

I hoped I helped you. Good bye.;)

what would make Freestyle different from Street? is your definition of freestyle like an all of the above thing? or maybe its presence in your list is just invalid..

Hi Pulis. Freestyle is different because freestyle is all the styles of bmx that you do tricks in and street is just street.:)
