One of my riding buddies is thinking of off-loading his 2001 Trek 2300 and buying a Marinoni or a Guru. He has never gotten comfortable on the bike and has had a fit done a number of time, and keeps goig back to his old, steel PDM-replica Concorde. So he wants to sell the Trek. It's in excellent condition, with about 500 miles on it, full Ultegra, but the alloy fork. What would one of these puppies sell for used?

As i look at ebay and some other places, i am seeing that they are only going for 300-350 max(but that is for a older model)!

As i look im seeing that the price for the one that you have should be around $1000 - 1125 maybe.

from what I'm seeing in completed auctions
on e-bay a year old 2300 is going for between
US 1200 and 1400. Some of the older models
(mid 90's) have been going for as low as
300 USD.

hope this helps.

Selling a used Trek can be a very painful, heartbreaking experience. Although used bikes in general will lose 50% of their bike shop value, a Trek seems to lose even more.

Trek has changed their aluminum alloy this year so that will contribute to lesser value on pre-2002 models of the bike.

The worst case scenario is the person may get 1/3 of the original price on a Trek. If they can get 50% of its original value they are doing very well.
