Classic & Vintage - bottechia mtn bike?

hey there, my boss has this flourescent green bottechia hanging in his garage with colombus tubing, wide wheels and a campy setup that looks almost experemental. it has a mt handlebar with thumb shifters and HUGE brake levers. from the components and the frame it looks to be mid-late 1980's. i can get this if i want it and i want to know if it is rare, your insight is appreciated

Campy made their Centaur mtb group for a bit in the late 80's

Green Bottechia's were racing in the World Cups up to 2000 so your frame may not be as old as you think as they were one of the few not to use compact geometry.

Campy's Centaur was the only MTB-specific group they made. (not to be confused with the "modern" Centaur group). I thinkhere was also a super-rare BMX group in the early 80's. Mostly gold-anodized stuff. thats pretty much the only off-road stuff they ever made to my (limited) knoledge.

I believe that Campy also made a mountain bike group called "Euclid". Campy was never really successful in the offroad department, and Shimano gave them a pants down spanking. However, you'd probably drive the guys and gals at www.CampyOnly.com in to a frenzy at the mere mention of this bike!
