Hey, I'm doing an MLA Research Paper for English class, and my topic is Freestyle BMX. So I'm just trying to find out who some BMX legends might be, besides Mat Hoffman, DMC, Dave Mirra, or any of those modern day popular riders. Thanks.

As for legends of BMX (besides the obvious Dave Mirra, Matt Hoffman ect. like you said) I would say Mike "Rooftop" Escamilla, Taj Mihelich, Ruben Alcantara and maybe Patrick King would all be good choices.

I would write a paper about van homan as far as street riding goes. It probably wouldnt be that difficult to contact him, at least by e-mail, so that would be awesome.

It really is too bad that I have to miss the premiere; I'll be down in LA until the day prior to it.

That was sweet ! Makes me remember why I still love this sport . My body is no longer made of rubber and I may have to live vicariously through the younger crowd , but the excitement and energy is still alive in me even if the skill and techniqe has slowly faded .
I used to do the couldawouldashoulda routine as far as my skills , but I would not trade that part of my life for anything in the world !
Building my last bike slowly this year and can't wait to do a tailwhip in front of my wife , she calls it my mid life crisis and I remind her that it is cheaper than a Porche and a mistress .
Young at heart because of all you guys keeping the faith !
Thanks !

The real legend are:
Jacques Ozanam-first to propose a self moving vehicle(bicycle or "velocipede").
Baron Karl von Drais-made the first prototype.
Michaux(last name?)-was the firts to add cranks, pedals and breaks to the bike.
Edouard Michelin-Made the first detachable tire instead of an all wood wheel and tire.
There's a nice history lesson. And to think that it all started back in 1696 with a crazy idea that poped into a frenchmens head one day...
(it pays to read the news paper)
